TRACKING A-FRAME (CAR TOWING RIG)

PDF

The “A” Frame can be used with our full-sized tracking vehicles. It is attached to the front suspension of the vehicle being tracked and then connected to the rear of the tracking vehicle.

This allows the driver/actor to simulate driving without having control of the vehicle being towed.

Most cars are compatible with one of our universal “A” Frames. However, for larger or unusually sized vehicles (e.g. small buses or lorries), we can manufacture bespoke frames. These require towing by a larger tracking vehicle and must be thoroughly tested prior to use.

Some vehicles are not suitable for “A” Frame use, so we require the make and model in advance of the shoot. Automatic vehicles can present issues, as towing may cause transmission damage—in these cases, the Tow Dolly may be a more suitable option.

All “A” Frames are fitted by one of our Bickers precision tracking drivers/technicians.

This setup typically operates with a two-person crew: one precision tracking vehicle driver and one technician, ensuring safe setup, operation, and de-rig.

Drivers without a full car driving licence must use the Tow Dolly instead of the “A” Frame.
